New report on the Changing Role of Specialist Provision in Supporting Inclusive Education

The Agency has published a new report as part of the Changing Role of Specialist Provision in Supporting Inclusive Education (CROSP) project. The project focuses on the shift in the role of specialist, separate schools, classes and units towards supporting mainstream provision to meet the needs of all learners. Concentrating on the compulsory education phase, the project explores country policy and practice and how they can influence the reform of specialist provision towards inclusive education. Phase 1 of the project aimed to give an overview of specialist provision in different countries. The resulting Synthesis Report, which is now available on the Agency website, explores the situation and trends in Agency countries. It explores the current role of specialist provision and the main policy reforms related to specialist services. It also investigates future policy developments that could change the role of specialist provision to support inclusive education. Phase 2 of the project is on-going and will build upon the findings from the Phase 1 Synthesis Report. The aim is to develop effective strategies which will enable countries to improve the role of specialist provision for inclusive education within their education systems.
